During the winter months, we meet at High Sports on Monday and Friday evenings. We gather from about 18:00 and sometimes go to the pub for a drink at about 21:00.
You need to pass the High Sports safety test in order to join the group as we don't have capacity to oversee complete beginners. The safety test involves showing that you can tie in using a rethreaded figure-of-eight knot and double stopper, and belay a partner on top rope. If you are new to climbing, we encourage you to book onto one of the many introductory courses offered by High Sports.
In the summer months, our members often meet at the local sandstone crags, Harrison's and Bowles. We also have a calendar of regular trips away, visiting destinations across the UK and beyond. Some highlights for 2026 include visits to the Peak District, the Lake District, Snowdonia, Cornwall, the Wye Valley and Fontainebleau. You can find details of upcoming events on our calendar below. Once you have joined the club you will be added to our WhatsApp Community where you can join channels dedicated to trips.
If you are a beginner or unsure about the experience level required, reach out to us using the Contact form and we will be happy to advise on your suitability for joining an event.
